Frequently Asked Questions

In what region do we offer our services?

Sustainable Solar Grazing is based out of the Champlain Valley in Central Vermont. However, our flocks are completely transportable and we are happy to manage solar site vegetation anywhere in the Northeast.

Is there a solar site too large for our flock?

We adjust and respond to meet the needs of our customers. Each year our flock size is determined by the number of solar acres that we haved contracted.

What if the sheep do not eat all of the grass?

We practice management-intensive grazing with high stock density. Our sheep move into new paddocks of fresh grass daily. Each paddock holds enough forage for a single grazing day. This type of management encourages our sheep to graze non-selectively and generally provides a uniform cutting. However, if our sheep do not graze the grass in such a way that the performance of the solar equipment is uninhibited, we will remedy the situation.

Do we carry insurance?

Yes, while sheep are much less likely to cause damage to equipment as compared to a lawnmower, a weed whacker, or mowing debris, we do carry general liability insurance.
